Instructional Technology Coordinator Job Description:
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for implementing College plans related to instructional computing, including faculty development and training, as well as working with faculty members on specific projects in computer-based instruction. Must stay abreast of technology developments and be responsible for the dissemination of information related to computer-based instruction via conferencing, newsletters, workshops and mini-courses.
Act as a resource when the College participates in community, district and state-wide instructional technology projects and will serve on various technology-related committees within the College and as part of its collaborative efforts and may be called upon to write proposals and give presentations related to instructional technology.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND TASKS:
Essential Job Functions
1. Coordinate the design and set-up of instructional computing labs and computerized classrooms. Work with the Instructional Systems Manager, Department Chairs, and the Instructional Deans to assure that the facilities are meeting specific goals.
2. Provide information to assist the College in setting priorities for the funding of instructional technology.
3. Participate in development of on-going faculty training plans in instructional technology, in consultation with Department Chairs and Instructional Deans. Implement training plans, including the design and teaching of classes and workshops for faculty and creation of user guides and other reference materials.
4. Participate in the design and development of technology-based college systems used for the delivery of instruction, such as the Web server, the email system, and the course management system. Work with the Instructional Deans to assist in the development and implementation of technologies supporting distance learning programs. Assist faculty in developing curriculum for delivery of technology-mediated instruction.
5. Provide technical expertise in support of community, district and state-wide instructional technology projects. Work with the Chief Information Officer to coordinate implementation efforts.
6. Perform other essential duties as assigned.
