Scholarships

A scholarship literally makes the difference in students attending COCC; it changes their life forever, it is a gift and an investment.

Donors, in making gifts to scholarships, make a lasting impact on the lives of students. Scholarships are awarded based upon financial need and the students demonstrated sense of direction and purpose. During the 2011/2012 academic year, the Foundation provided more than $1,000,000 in scholarships to COCC students. A full scholarship is $3,200, which pays for a student to take 12 credits per term (3 terms total), fees and most of their book expenses.

Last year, we had 800 first time applicants apply for a Foundation scholarship but were only able to award 200. On top of that, 120 students qualified for a renewal scholarship based on their GPA, number of attempted credits and volunteering for a Foundation event. 320 students received the gift of education, which is one of the most precious gifts available. The ripple effect that this creates is unstoppable and is truly unknown as to how far the ripples will reach.

The most impactful way to fully understand how receiving a scholarship changes lives is to read the words directly from the students, here are some of their stories.
