What is Expected Family Contribution?
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is a measurement of your family's financial strength and indicates how much of your family's financial resources should be available to help pay for education. The EFC is calculated from the information you reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Your EFC is calculated by a formula established by law. Family income, assets, benefits, family size and the number of family members who will be attending college are all considered in determining your EFC. Your EFC will appear on the Student Aid Report (SAR). The EFC calculation is the same for all students.
Use this EFC Calculator to determine your estimated EFC.
