21st Century artists, art students in particular, are hard-pressed to create original works. Meanwhile, originality remains one of the primary cultural criteria for appraising new works of art. through examples from his own career trajectory, Cravis demonstrates that artistic creation is itself an original act, regardless of whether-and in some cases especially because-everything has already been done before.
