Dental Assistant Program Enrollment
The Dental Assistant Certificate Program cohort starts each fall. Enrollment is first-come, first-served for the first 24 students who have completed program preparation and prerequisites. Priority registration is given to currently enrolled certificate/degree-seeking students who have completed the highest number of credits at COCC.
Individuals seeking admission into the Dental Assisting program must have a high school diploma or equivalent, complete a college application and must meet entrance requirements. New students should contact Enrollment Services - Admissions (541/383-7500) as soon as possible for additional information. Any previous transcripts should be forwarded to the COCC Enrollment Services - Admissions with a request for evaluation prior to registration.
Prior to the start of clinical classes, admitted students must have a Hepatitis B immunization, a T.B. test and demonstrate immunization for measles or must sign a release form indicating their refusal to be immunized. A current CPR card is required prior to entering the clinical setting.
The Deschutes County Health Department has partnered with us to offer a special immunization session for Health Career students only. Certain requirements must be met. Please click here, Immunization Clinic, for more information and dates.
All COCC students enrolled in Dental Assisting (which includes requirements for practical experience) may have to pass Criminal History Checks (CHC) as a condition of their acceptance into a medical or other facility for training. Students who do not pass the CHC may not be eligible to complete training at affiliated practicum sites, to sit for licensure or certification exams, or to be hired for some professional positions. Students who believe that their past history may interfere with their ability to complete the program of study or to obtain licensure or certification in their chosen field should contact the appropriate state board or the program director.
