Master Automotive Technician
The Automotive Technology program is planned so that students will be able to complete the Master Automotive Technician Certificate in approximately 12 to 15 months. The certificate enables students to enter the transportation industry as an automotive technician. Men and women who are changing jobs or careers, students who want to explore the possibility of a technician career or simply know more about vehicles may enter the program each term.

Included in the Master Automotive Technician Certificate are eight distinct award areas, short-term "mini-certificates," that will prepare students for a specific job within the transportation industry.

  • Undercar Technician
  • Automotive Drive Train Technician
  • Automotive Engine Technician
  • Automotive Electrical Technician (basic)
  • Automotive Electrical Technician (advanced)
  • Automotive Air Conditioning & Heating Technician
  • Automotive Engine Performance Technician

Entry into the program at the beginning of each term is possible by meeting course prerequisites or receiving the instructor's permission. The automotive technology program is certified by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation Inc. (NATEF). The program in automotive is approved for veterans' training. Call instructors for details. Occupational supplementary courses with college credit may be offered in the evening. These classes are designed to meet community needs and will vary from one term to the next. Students are expected to supply their own hand tools. A list is available from program instructors. The College provides any needed specialized tools and equipment for use in courses.
