Health Career Program Vaccination Information & Clinics

Vaccination Requirements and Clinics

The Deschutes County Health Services (DCHS) offers an immunization clinic once each term on the COCC Bend campus.

This clinic is only for students who:

  • do not have private health insurance that covers immunizations, or
  • are on the Oregon Health Plan (OHP).

If you have private health insurance or are unable to make the COCC Immunization clinic, you may go to an area medical clinic or a Deschutes County Health Services office to receive your required immunizations, skintest and laboratory tests.

All immunizations, skin tests and laboratory tests required for the following programs will be offered at the COCC clinics:

  • Dental Assisting
  • Emergency Medical Services - EMT and Paramedic
  • Medical Assisting
  • Nursing - CNA, LPN and RN
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Veterinary Technician

All programs (except Veterinary Technician) follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) immunization schedule for health-care personnel as shown in the table below.

The Hepatitis B Vaccine series is recommended (but not required) for Veterinary Technician students who will be working with primates.

Please check the specific program website for details and deadlines for submitting documentation of immunizations, skin tests, and laboratory results.

Please bring all available immunization and titer records with you to the immunization clinic.  Please make an effort to locate past immunization records.  Your physician, your parent, or your most recent middle or high school may have your records.  This can help prevent you from receiving shots you do not need.

Note: If you have children, your OB may have some of the titers available in your medical records. Hepatitis and Rubella titers are commonly obtained as part of prenatal lab work.
